Some passages read were:

“I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.” (Thomas Jefferson) (World Scripture pg. 1041)

“Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money changers at their business. And making a whip of cords, he drove them all, with the sheep and oxen, out of the temple; and he poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. And he told those he sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; you shall not make my Father’s house a house of trade.”” (John 2.13-16) (World Scripture pg. 1041)

“How can he be said truly to love, who exacts no effort from the objects of his love? How can he be said to be truly loyal, who refrains from admonishing the object of his loyalty?” (Analects 14.8 Confucianism) (World Scriptures pg. 1042)

“What kind of person is a true leader? He is able to deal with every difficult situation. Misery and hunger do not dissuade him. Though he encounters tragedy and weeps bitter tears, he never thinks of turning back. Even in the face of death, he continues to push forward. He does not mind suffering losses in the present as long as his actions will benefit future generations and advance the purpose of God.” (Rev. Sun Myung Moon 118:41, May 2, 1982) (World Scripture pg. 1042)

“Leaders can never lead without tears. True leaders are those who foresee that their nation will face trials and train their people before the tribulations come by driving them into suffering and hardship.” (Way of God’s Will 1.3) (World Scripture pg. 1042)

Some of the comments from the participants were:

“It depends on the motivation to know if the actions are good or bad.”

“If you’re taking initiatives, there will always be something blocking your way but at least you’ll be able to bring a change. The easiest is to do anything, there’s no obstacle to overcome. But in this case, nothing is going to change.”

“As a leader, if we don’t put our heart into our responsibilities, we are just leaders on paper. Leaders should fulfill their responsibilities. They should also feel with their hearts, not just work with the intellect or try to suppress their feelings by taking drugs for example.”
